“Delusion of negation” is such type of belief in which a person believes that himself, his body or this world does not exist.

This is also called Nihilistic delusion, where person completely deny the reality and existance.

This belief happens without any logic or evidence and person considers this belief the truth even anybody tries to explain the truth.

In this, person thinks that he has died or the world has been vanished.

Cotard’s syndromee

This delusion is commonly seen in Cotard’s Syndrome. In this condition a person can say that he has died, his body is not functioning or he was never born.

This delusion is commonly seen in chronic depression, schizophrenia or brain injury.

Patients affected with Cotard’s Syndrome can deny to eat food, do not take care of oneself and deny the needs of the body.

Comparison with other options:

• (a) Delusion of persecution- In this a person feels that someone is following him or someone wants to harm him.
• (b) Delusion of granduer- In this type of delusion a person feels that he is very powerful, famous or GOD like.
• (d) Delusion of Guilt- In this type of delusion a person feels he has committed a big sin or crime which is often not true.
